Every woman who has an abortion will feel differently after the experience.
There is no way to know exactly how you’ll feel, but monitoring your emotions and determining whether things have taken a concerning turn are crucial steps.
While some women feel a sense of relief after abortion, others find their lives become more difficult. If the latter applies to you, help is available. Informed Choices Women’s Center offers support and can walk you through the next steps.
Navigating the Post-Abortion Experience
Experts agree that some women have negative mental health effects after abortion, including:
- Grief
- Feelings of loss
- Anxiety
- Depression
If you’ve struggled with past mental health issues, you might know how quickly they can worsen. Seeking help is a courageous decision, and there’s nothing to be ashamed of. This is a complex journey, and you must give yourself grace.
From professional counseling to self-care exercises, there’s much you can do to begin the healing process. But you don’t have to start this process alone.
Informed Choices Women’s Center provides no-cost, confidential post-abortion support. You’ll find a friendly face to speak with and offer comfort. We’ll help you work through your feelings and refer you for additional assistance as needed.
