Call Call Call Call

Feeling pressured to make a specific decision can increase any feelings of anxiety and distress. This is an important moment in your life, and you deserve to make a decision that considers your future.

Knowing what to do when you’re considering abortion and facing outside pressure can be difficult. However, we’ll help you face this challenge with some helpful tips.

Keep reading to learn what you can do next. You don’t have to navigate this time alone.

1. Set clear boundaries with your loved ones.

Though setting boundaries and having those conversations with loved ones can be difficult, they’re necessary steps. Making a decision you secretly disagree with or feel pressured to make can negatively impact your future. You deserve to be in total control.

Consider telling family and friends what they can and cannot do to help. For example, you could say something like, “I feel very overwhelmed when you tell me what to do. You can help me by doing ________.” That way, your loved one knows what is and inappropriate.

If a friend or family member still doesn’t respect your boundaries, it’s critical to consider pressing “pause” on that relationship or keeping your distance until you feel comfortable being around them. Sometimes, a healthy distance can help clear your head and make you feel in control.

2. Confirm your pregnancy.

If you are considering abortion (or any other option), having an ultrasound is crucial. This scan helps determine your eligibility by assessing how far along you are, where your pregnancy is located, and if it’s progressing.

Abortion may not be an option if you’re too far along, have certain medical conditions, or if your pregnancy has already ended. In fact, you would need treatment for conditions like ectopic pregnancy, which can pose life-threatening complications.

You may be eligible for this scan after speaking with a registered nurse during your first appointment. We offer limited abdominal ultrasounds up to 13 weeks gestation.

We’ll help you learn about your pregnancy before you decide. Your well-being is important to us.

3. Think about what you want for your pregnancy.

Sometimes, taking a moment to regroup and determine what you want for your future makes all the difference. Learning everything you can about your options will prepare you to make a decision based on facts and the resources available.

A registered nurse can discuss abortion and its risks and side effects with you. We’ll also explain adoption and parenting. You are welcome to ask questions; we’ll provide the respect and privacy you deserve.

We understand how you’re feeling and will walk alongside you during this time. You are not alone.
