Call Call Call Call

An unexpected pregnancy can change the tone of your closest relationships. Your boyfriend may have one opinion about what should happen, while a parent or friend may feel differently. If you are considering abortion, it can become difficult to separate your own questions from everyone else’s reactions.

A healthy support system makes room for honest questions, reliable information, and thoughtful conversations about what each path could mean for your life.

At Informed Choices Women’s Center, your first appointment is with a registered nurse. You can receive no-cost medical-grade pregnancy testing and talk with the nurse about your pregnancy and options in a confidential setting.

Schedule an appointment today to get started.

Notice the Difference Between Support and Pressure

A reliable, supportive person can listen to your concerns, ask questions, and stay with you as you work through the situation you are facing.

Pressure feels different. It may sound like repeated demands, guilt, threats, or warnings about what will happen if you do not make a particular choice. Even when someone’s concern is sincere, fear about finances, school, relationships, or the future does not give that person the right to decide for you.

Pay attention to how you feel after these conversations. Feeling heard is very different from feeling cornered.

Let Different People Help in Different Ways

One person does not need to meet every need. Your boyfriend or a close friend may be the person you speak with when emotions feel heavy. A family member might help with transportation, childcare, or practical questions. A healthcare professional can address medical concerns.

You may also benefit from speaking with someone who is not personally involved in the situation. A registered nurse or advocate can give you a place to voice your questions without adding another personal opinion to the conversation.

Gather Medical Information

The people around you may care deeply about you, but their opinions cannot tell you what is happening with your pregnancy.

At our center, a registered nurse administers medical-grade pregnancy testing. Following a positive result, qualifying clients may receive a no-cost limited ultrasound. The center provides abdominal ultrasounds through 13 weeks of pregnancy.

A limited ultrasound can estimate how far along you are, confirm that the pregnancy is located in the uterus, and detect cardiac activity. These details can give you a clearer understanding of your pregnancy as you consider what to do next.

Begin With a Confidential Appointment

A support system does not have to be large. What matters is having people who can listen without controlling the conversation and remain dependable in difficult circumstances.
